Family lunch on Sunday

Hi guys, I'm back to share a place that my parents and I frequent when we want to have some cheap and good tze char. I've actually shared this place before, but that was a few months back. Since my parents and I visited this place again last Sunday, I thought I might as well share it with my readers again. So this coffeeshop is located at Ang Mo Kio (I will share the address in a moment). Other than Hong Kong style Tze Char, there is another stall that sells pretty good dimsum in the same coffeeshop. So you can have a mixture of items that you would like to have at one location.
So here are the dishes that we ordered:

First up, we have none other than liushabao! ($3.50)
My dad is an avid fan of liushabaos after I brought him to Swee Choon. He loves the salted egg and custard fillings, and can finish all 3 by himself. Hahah. By the way, this liushabao wasn't exactly that up to our expectations. The bao was too thick in our opinion.

Moving on to our mains

Prawn Paste Chicken ($9.00)
Boy, this prawn paste chicken was awesome! Just look at how fat and juicy these drumlets are. Every bite into this chicken drumlet gives you the satisfaction, and it's definitely worth all your calories. I loved that their rendition of prawn paste chicken had a thicker outer layer of flour and it's so so crispy. Not forgetting that the chicken drumlets were very well marinated too. Definitely worth a try!
Sum Loh horfun ($6.00)
This dish is basically horfun with sliced fish and loads of beansprouts. The sliced fish was really fresh and this is a must order for all fish and horfun lovers. Awesome horfun!
Mee Goreng ($4.50)
My mum and I love their Mee goreng. It's not too salty nor too sweet. The seafood that they use are also really fresh and nice. This is one of the better chinese style mee goreng that I've had.

Yup, so that's what we had for our Sunday lunch. The total damage for this meal was just $23.00. Really affordable right?

So here's the address:
Hong Kong Chun Kee Street Resturant
Blk 151, Ang Mo Kio Ave 5

#01-3030,
(S) 560157
Opening Hours: 11am - 2pm, 5pm - 11pm.

Do give this place a try if you happen to be in the Ang Mo Kio area!

Little nephew's 1st Birthday

Hi guys! I'm back with a short update on my little nephew's birthday dinner last night. We had buffet dinner at Furama Hotel. Honestly, the buffet wasn't exactly awesome, but the company made the whole dinner a lot more enjoyable. I had the chance to talk to my cousins whom i don't see really often, as well as all my cute little nieces and nephews. I swear they are all so adorable and I love them to bits!  <3
Here are some pictures that I snapped!

Where we had our dinner

With the Birthday Boy. He is so so so cute! <3

After spamming a series of photos with the birthday boy, I started my food spree.
Started off with sashimi and some sushi. Who can resist sashimi right? Hahha.
Tried some potato salad, and it proved to be a waste of calories. Boohoo.
I loved this rosti and sausages. Yums!
Grilled beef which was a tad too hard in my opinion
Some other cooked food that they have. I absolutely loved the roasted potatoes, they were so soft and yummy. Love it! the fish was pretty well done too.
Assorted desserts that I shared with my parents
This was good! Durian paste. Totally love anything that has durian. Noms!

Yup, so this basically sums up what I ate last night. The varieties that they offer were kinda disappointing. There wasn't much selection of cooked food, but I guess the rosti and roasted potatoes made up for it. #easilycontented. Hahaha.

After we were done with our dinner, we had the cake cutting ceremony. It's so cute to see the baby boy hold that knife and attempt to cut the super cute and nice cake.
The star of the night with his cute Winnie the Pooh cake. So so nice!
Here's a close up of the cake. So adorable right?

We sang the birthday song, cut the cake, and ate the cake. We had time to sit down and catch up a little more before we left, and of course, I took the chance to snap more pictures with my niece and cousin.
She's the birthday boy's sister. So cute too right? Omg. My favourite niece of all! <3
Love my cousin, she's like an older sister to me, always so nice and protective of me.

Lastly, how can I miss the chance of camwhoring with a cute Winnie the Pooh balloon? Heh!
Too cute! Hehe, I used to like Winnie the Pooh, cause it's so cute and hug-able! :)

That's all that i have for this post. I really love such gatherings with my family. It's nothing short of fun and lots of love! <3

Alright, I'll be back with more posts, but meanwhile have a great monday guys!

Mid Autumn Gathering

Hi guys, it's been quite awhile since I last blogged. I've been really  busy with my assignments and tests. So glad that it's all over now. I've to prepare for my final exams that commences on 22nd Oct, and that marks the end of my first sem in RMIT. Time really flies. Okay so this post will be on the Mid Autumn Festival gathering with my family over at my place. My mum lovingly prepared all the homemade dishes and they were all so yummy! Some pictures that I snapped. Please pardon me for the lousy quality, they were all snapped from my iPhone.

Spammed some pictures with 2 of my favourite cousins. I still remember how we used to hang out so often when we were much younger. Now that we're all grown up, I'm still glad that the bond is still there. :)

Alright, after a round of picture spamming, it was time for food!

 Our table of homemade delights
Stir fried brocolli with prawns and scallops
Braised chicken with potatoes, carrots and lotus root
Ngoh Hiang
Fish maw soup
Steamed fish
Roast Pork

The most satisfying lunch ever. I've always loved homecooked meals, and I'm really glad that my mum's cooking skills are improving day by day. Heh! So say yay to more delicious homecooked meals!

After lunch, we cleared up the tables and had mooncake that my aunt bought over.

Super nice packaging for the mooncakes
Double Yolk Lotus paste mooncake

We continued chatting and I had a really nice time with my family. More of such gathering soon I hope!

Alright, that shall be all for this post. I'll be back with more after I come back from JB with my UOL friends tmr! So excited!

Impromtu JB trip with my mum

Happy midweek people! How has your week been? My mum and I went on an impromptu JB trip yesterday. Mum took leave yesterday, so we decided to go to JB for food, food and more food! So sad that my dad couldn't join us, but we can always go in again on a weekend! :) We left house at about 11am and only reached KSL mall at about 1pm. I was famished by the time we got there. So we headed to my favourite shabu shabu restaurant! I swear that the milk broth is extremely yummy and addictive! Everyone should order the milk broth when you visit the restaurant. Basically my mum and I just ate throughout the whole day trip. I shall let the pictures do the talking then!

We reached the Malaysia customs and my mum wanted to try out the Malaysia bus, so we took a bus to KSL instead of a cab. I swear this was the worst decision ever. The bus uncle said he needed the washroom, and we waited for more than 15 mins before he came back. The whole journey was bumpy, and the initial 10 mins cab ride became a 30 mins bus ride. Man, my mum and I were so pissed then, but everything was fine when we reached KSL mall. Oh but one thing I have to say is that their bus rides are really cheap! RM1.50 per person.

KSL City! My current favourite mall in JB
Arashi shabu shabu, a must eat whenever I go to JB
  Yummy Gyoza (RM9.90)
Shabu shabu set for one (RM22.90)

The set consists of:
Pork shoulder
Assorted vegetables and other ingredients
Vermicelli

We were so hungry, so instead of sharing the shabu shabu, my mum ordered a hot stone bowl rice
Salmon hot stone bowl rice (RM22.90)

This was our brunch! My mum loved the milk broth, and everything we ordered! So glad that my mum liked my recommendation. Okay, so after brunch, we went to walk around and I bought some pretty ribbon hair accessories. After that, my mum, the coffee lover decided to head to the nearby cafe for a cup of coffee.

Snapped a picture of my pretty ribbon hair accessories
Mum's coffee and toast
My milk tea with less sugar

My mum kind of liked the coffee, but she thought that the toast wasn't buttery enough. Haha, I didn't really enjoyed my glass of milk tea, but the super affordable price made up for it.

Sweet sweet mangoes

Yup, so mum and I headed over to Holiday Plaza to walk around, and I bought a hair straightener to curl the bottom of my hair. Hahah. So gonna use it after I cut my hair to maybe shoulder length? Hmm, should I?
After getting my stuff, we walked back to KSL for more food! Haha!
We had this for pre-dinner. We loved the dry scallops porridge. So yummy! All these cost us RM 12.50. Worth it right? :)

After this pre-dinner, we went back to City Square to get my beard papa cream puffs and shared dinner at Old Town Coffee. I really really loved the Old Town nasi lemak! The chilli is oh so good! My mum even wanted to just buy the chilli itself, but so sad, they don't just sell their chilli alone.
Lime juice
Favourite nasi lemak of all times! (RM8.90)

One last picture of the Malaysia customs before we left for home.

Alright, this basically sums up my one day trip to JB with my mum. Can't wait to go back for more awesome food and I wanna buy more ribbon hair accessories! They are too pretty! Hehehe!

Have a great day guys!

Su Shan
