Manna Story Korean Restaurant & Ji De Chi Dessert

Hi guys, I'm back with an update! I have an awesome Korean Restaurant to recommend to all of you! Jia Ying and I went to Plaza Singapura to try out the Manna Story Korean Restaurant after hearing some positive reviews from my friends. I'm someone who absolutely adores Korean food, so when I stepped into the restaurant yesterday, I felt extremely happy! One plus point about this restaurant is that they have very nice and homely decorations, with pots of artificial flowers and garden designs on the walls. Their service crew are also pretty nice. Okay, the main point is that the food is really super delicious and affordable! We ordered the BBQ pork and the Beef stew which came with a drink and rice. What's awesome about Korean restaurants is that they have lots of side dishes that comes along with your mains. Manna Story serves 4 side dishes and it is refillable once. Here are some pictures, I'll write more about it alongside the pictures.

Manna Story
The interior of the restaurant, see all the wooden benches, the trees wall art and the pots of artificial flowers. It gives me a feeling that I'm having my meal in a garden, and to make it better, it is an air conditioned garden.
The side dishes
I love kimchi
Bean Sprouts
Potatoes
Anchovies that wasn't too salty, and we liked that it had a little tinge of sweetness to it.
BBQ Pork. I liked this dish. The sauce was flavourful, and the meat was tender. The only thing that I didn't like was that almost every slice of meat had fats on it, but if you're someone who doesn't mind the skin, you'll love this dish.
Spicy Beef Soup. Woohoo, I love this soup! The broth was extremely flavourful and not too spicy. Once you start drinking it, you'll keep wanting to drink more of the soup. The ingredients that they add in the soup is really nice too! With lots of marinated beef which is absolutely tasty, golden mushrooms, tofu and glass noodles. I also loved that they serve this dish piping hot! This is a soup that is not to be missed!

The total bill came out to be about $28.50 after GST and Service Charge. For the quality of the food, I would recommend all Korean food lovers to give this restaurant a try. It wouldn't disappoint.

Next, we went over to Bugis to shop a little and walk around. After a round of shopping, we headed over to Liang Seah Street for some desserts at Ji De Chi. I usually frequent the branch at Jurong Point, but the  standards of the desserts are the same. It's one of the better desserts around in my opinion.
My mango puree with beancurd. I am someone who loves mango and beancurd, so this is the best combination that I can ever ask for.
($4.00)
Jia Ying's mango sago which she says is also quite good.
($4.00)
And we shared this durian dessert. I don't know what this is called, but the skin of this dessert is chewy and nice, the skin is also covered with coconut shreds. The durian filling inside is oh so yummy! I simply love anything that has durian fillings in it. YUMS!
($5.50)

Korat Thai Cafe @ Orchard Towers

Hi guys! I'm here to recommend an awesome thai food place that I go to other than Ah Loy Thai when I'm craving for some thai food. This hidden gem is located at Orchard Towers. Don't think that Orchard Towers only have all the bars and discos. This "restaurant" here serves authentic thai food at reasonable prices! Very very awesome. The settings of Korat Thai Cafe is not exactly like a restaurant. It's more of like a shop where they will cook their dishes and there are tables outside the shop for you to consume your food. Pretty different from the normal restaurants or coffeeshops that we usually dine at.
Here's some pictures that I have for you!

Yup, this is what I mean by eating outside the shop
Chicken Thai Green Curry ($10)
I absolutely adore the green curry. It is a must order whenever I visit this Thai restaurant. The green curry sauce goes extremely well with plain rice, and the chicken is really tender and well marinated. The brinjal in the curry is also very nice. Please do order the green curry if you're a curry lover, even if you're not, or you can't take spicy food, this dish is still a must order, cause it isn't very spicy, and has a sweet tinge to the curry.
Plain Omelette ($6)
Next dish, the omelette. This omelette is awesome as well. The sides of the omelette is crispy, and not too salty. I loved this dish. The only complain for this dish is that I felt that it was a little oily. Other than that, it's an egg dish that's very well done.
Seafood Tomyum Soup ($10)
Lastly, the seafood tomyum soup. I felt that the soup wasn't as sour as some other tomyum that I've had. The thing that I liked is that the soup base is clear. The soup has loads of ingredients too. I should probably ask the chef to make it spicier and more sour the next time I order this dish.

Yup, my overall review for this restaurant is that, if you don't mind eating at a place surrounded by bars and occasional loud thumps of music, then you have to visit this restaurant. Or if you love thai food, then please visit this restaurant too. It wouldn't disappoint. If my memory didn't fail me, they are opened from 7pm till late. So this place makes a good supper location too!

Yup, that's all I have for this post.

Do try out this restaurant soon! :)

The Avengers + Ah Loy Thai + Shopping

Hi guys! I'm back from a full day of enjoyment with Jasmine. We went for The Avengers movie in the morning, and it's such an awesome movie!! I guess I don't have to reiterate how good this movie is. Everyone who has watched it before exclaims that it's a movie that you definitely have to watch! So please catch it if you haven't.The movie is kind of long so we were practically starving by the end of the movie and we still had to make our way to Bugis for our food. But all the starving and waiting is worth it. I swear Ah Loy Thai serves awesome and authentic thai food. Too damn good! You'll definitely salivate just by looking at the pictures. Heheheh. Please do try it if you happen to be around the Bugis area, but prepare to wait for quite a long time for a seat, because it's just so popular! After food, we headed over to Bugis Street for a mini shopping spree. I managed to get 2 tops and a pair of shoes for $40. So awesome right? Heh! Loving my buys! Alright, some pictures to go!

Took a picture with my new mirror!

Met Jas and went for our movie!

With our favourite characters, Ironman and Captain America! <3 Who's your favourtie Hero?

After our movie, we made our way to Ah Loy Thai for lunch!

Pandan Chicken ($9.00)

Butter Calamari ($7.50)

Next up on our itinerary is shopping! We finished lunch at about 3 plus, so we were only left with a few hours to shop, before we head home. But we still managed to buy some stuff! So we're happy girls!

YAY! The very nice salesperson helped us with these pictures!

We bought our items and head off to the train station. Of course, during the long ride, we would spam some pictures! It's really quite hilarious when we had to struggle to stand firm on the moving train and attempt to take nice pictures. Haha, but the camwhore us, still managed to take some pictures!

Four camwhore pictures of us for you!

Alright, that's about it for this post.
Remember to watch The Avengers and have lunch at Ah Loy Thai!

Will be back to blog about the other parts of my Melbourne Trip.

Meanwhile, have a good rest, and conquer the last working/schooling day of the week tomorrow!

Yomenya Goemon for lunch & Chinese Tze Char for dinner

Hi guys! Happy mid week! I'm really happy today, cause I finished my second last paper, and so I'm left with one last Accounts paper and I'm done with the first year of Uni! Awesome much! Hehe. Alright, so as you guys know, my papers are all held at Expo. Coincidentally, my BFF, Hiromi works near Expo as well, so I arranged to meet her for lunch after my paper at Changi City Point. We decided to have Jap style spaghetti at Yomenya Goemon. This is my current favourtie pasta place. They have a wide varieties of pasta and pizzas. They are all so delicious and the portions are huge! They even have a small salad bar at the side so you can fill your bowl with whatever vegetables that you want. I absolutely love the salad dressings. Too damn nice. Everyone should totally try it please. You'll grow to love vegetables after having that awesome bowl of salad. Alright, here are some pictures taken with my iphone. The super blur me brought my camera out, but not the memory card. Haha, blur max.

Too yummy. The pictures doesn't do justice to the pasta at all. Please please do give it a try if you happen to pass by an outlet okay? They have quite a few outlets in Singapore, so do try it!

Hiromi went back to work after the one hour lunch break, and I took a 1.5 hour train journey back home. Took a short nap, and went off for tuition. I was so tired, but still gotta give tuition, cause my tutee is having exams tmr. I'm praying that he will do well! Haha, okay, so after tution, my dad came to fetch me, and off we went to pick my mum up at Novena and we had Tze Char dinner at Ang Mo Kio. That is my family's favourite Tze Char Stall. How I spent my Thursday

TGIF people! Although I'm cooped at home for the whole day, I still hope that all of you will have a great time out today! Alright, time is running short. I have less than a week to the first paper in my first year of uni. Alright, honestly speaking, I'm not taking it very seriously because I intend to change school and course. Well, I know it's kind of a random decision, afterall I haven't gone for the exams and who knows? I might fare well right? Hah. However, I think this decision of me applying to another school will be a right one. At least I'm doing something that I like.

Okay, back to the topic, what I did on Thursday. Met up with my friends for a study session at the other ulu campus. The place is really quiet and super little people will hang out there, so it's a good place to study at if you have the transport there. Some pictures that I took.

Met RC and JY earlier for a heavy breakfast. (My fav zhajiangmian) Too awesome!

A shoe shot while waiting for Mr Faiz to arrive and fetch us to the other campus

After waiting for about an hour, he finally came....

And off we went!

A picture of the campus

We managed to book a discussion room at the library

Miss RC, our teacher of the day

Our messy table that housed 6 people. Heh

After studying for a few hours, we decided that we should have a break, and have some food! So we ordered Mac Delivery! The very bo liao Mr Dex actually made an effort to arrange 14 packets of chilli sauce nicely. Kudos to his effort, and boliao-ness.

Yea, one and only picture of me that day!

Alright, just one more picture of my studded pocket

And so, after studying for awhile more, we decided that we needed some entertainment. This is Faiz's chinese name. Wee Shiun literally translated his name into these chinese characters. So creative, but I must say that his handwriting is really quite nice. Hah.

**************

We studied till about 7pm, and left the place. I went off to meet Jasmine for a really impromptu dessert date. Saw her tweet that she wanted dessert, and since I was gonna be home alone, I joined her!

My dessert date :)

Awesome dessert that contains grass jelly, yam Q, pearls, sweet potato balls, some black sugar jelly and shaved ice. I remember having these yam balls when I was in Taiwan. It somewhat tastes similar, but less sweet than those that I had there. You must eat it with the shaved ice, if not the yam ball itself will be quite bland. However, it's still nice. If you want to have a taste of the very famous Taiwan Jiufen yam balls, this can be an alternative.

We decided to go for prata at Al Ameen since we haven't been there for such a long time. We set off to Al Ameen happily, but we left being extremely dissatisfied customers. Why? Because their standards dropped tremendously. The cheese prata that we ordered was overly rubbery and salty, and the mee goreng was too salty as well. I remembered that they used to serve yummy pratas. What happened? Oh man, the only saving grace was the curry.

Lots of varieties, but not nice. (Well, at least those that we ordered wasn't nice)

Cheese prata. Looks good, but looks can be deceiving. Boohoo.

Salty Mee goreng

I'm not sure if the other patrons felt that the food wasn't as good as last time, but Jas and I definitely felt so. We're off in search for other good prata places. Any recommendations?

And to make things worse, we never put car coupon cause it was already at night, and I really didn't think that the parking attendant would come at that timing. Being very suay that day, we got a $30 summon. Totally not worth it at all. We totally felt like crying on the spot. Manz. No choice, just take it as a lesson learnt. BOOHOOO! :(

But I still must thank Jas for the ride home, and she's really a steady female driver. So am I. Heh. *Winks* So don't stereotype all female drivers anymore! Heehee! More of such supper dates soon!

Alright, I shall end my post here. Remember to give the dessert a try!

Love,
Su Shan
